(Updated 3/25/2010 below) If your Verizon Wireless connection does not load bing correctly. Please leave a comment here. If you’re not having a hard time viewing bing.com in both firefox and internet explorer over a Verizon Wireless air card EVDO connection, then you’re going to be really bored here. Go visit uncool instead. Verizon Wireless support won’t open a ticket for me to fix this bing problem unless I can find another customer having the same problem. When I load the bing page from my Verizon Wireless connection, all I get is a white screen with one line of orange text – Tell us what you think – and some white on white text visible if I use the mouse pointer to select and highlight. But when I take my computer to any other connection, things are fine. It is only the Verizon Wireless card that won’t load bing.
Verizon Wireless Bing Problem
Back when Alltel still had a hand in my connection, I contacted support about a Verizon Facebook problem. After I found other people having the same problem on Verizon Wireless, Verizon fixed the problem. But they blew me off until then. Same thing here with Bing Verizon Wireless. It’s not working. Verizon Wireless support is blowing me off. They won’t even open a ticket for me. Verizon told me to contact Bing… but naturally couldn’t tell me how I should go about doing that. How rude.
I wouldn’t hesitate to leave Verizon Wireless for another company, but I’m stuck with them. There’s no DSL or cable at my location. No other EVDO options. Satellite’s latency is too high for the sftp and other stuff I do. ISDN is a sketchy pain. Dialup… ugh. So I just need Bing to load, but Verizon Wireless as usual is not taking any responsibility. How I long for the days of Alltel’s comparatively incredible mediocrity. Please contact me in the comments or by emailing verizonsucks at uncoolcentral dot com
My earlier post declaring Webposition a giant pit of suck still holds true, in that I was complaining about the terrible “support” they provide. So this is not a mea culpa apology. But I should note: I’m MUCH angrier with Verizon Wireless’ terrible “support” than I am/was with webpo’s. As far as I’m concerned, until both companies reimburse me for my wasted time, they can suck it.
Verizon bing.com problem solution
I’ve spent the past several months communicating with others experiencing the same problems. There’s power in numbers. Eventually Verizon started replacing modems. After hearing from others that upgrading to the um175 fixed most problems, I purchased a used Verizon Pantech um175 online to replace my Alltel um150. I took the 175 into the Verizon store a couple of days ago and asked if changing to a new modem would change my plan. Nope. I’m still grandfathered in on the unlimited plan for the time being. I can now access Bing.com. (no thanks to Verizon. Boo!)
I’v been having the same problem for a couple of months now in Mid-Michigan with an Alltel EC168 aircard. Only orange text now, sometimes a few lines will load.
same thing is happening to me.
I tried Bing thru a web proxy and it loaded fine. So something odd is going on.
I sent you and Morgan (the other commenter on this thread) an email yesterday suggesting we group-call Verizon wireless to get this worked out. The same tactic has worked for me in the past with Verizon wireless problems. Find those emails and respond so we can work out some deets outside of this blog.
It happens to me. I have a Huaweii 228 card.
I hope it is not just the old Alltel Cards.
I understand if I have to change, that I will have a 5GB data limit.
I am having a problem as well with my Alltel Wireless EC168 card. I only get the orange text of tell us what you think.
SAME problem! Alltel EC168 card. Bing white page, nothing else.
I’m locked into Alltel and have NO alternative for internet service.
I’m having this problem also. I’m using the Alltel Huawei EC228. My contract with Alltel/Verizon is up, but it really is the best service offered in my area, so I’m stuck with them, too.
Well, I talked to Verizon and they said they don’t block sites, guy was klinda uppity about it -couldn’t reason with him about it. So I called back yesterday and told them my EC128 was really hot and kept saying it was unplugged from the pc (It wasn’t), He had me do a few fixes I pretended to do then I said it was still doing it. The new Verizon branded card arrived today and now Bing.com loads fine. So I don’t know if it was the aircard or the quicklink mobile software messing up. But with both gone it works fine.
If you had alltel and you switch to a new card from Verizon you will probaly set stuck with a 5GB limit. Alltel had no limits, but a new card might trash your old plan.

I have the same problem I just decided to try bing.com the other day. I have an alltel plan with alltel phones. I tether my motorola VE20 to my computer for internet. I have the $25 unlimited data plan and I use alot per month between 10gb and 15gb. This is my only internet source so I cant switch to a verizon phone and have 5gb capped data usage per month.
Same type of trouble. Alltel Pantech UM175 aircard grandfathered over to Verizon and bing.com will not load properly. I’m using the card with a CradlePoint CTR350 and a Linksys WRT600N; Bing is the only page I have trouble with.
I have the same problem with my UM175 purchased from Alltel 15 months ago.
No solution found yet. I can access every website except Bing.com. Same as others in these posts. I use the UM175 with a CradlePoint CTR500 router.
I upgraded to a Verizon phone and while I was at it talked to the Verizon sales person about the 5 gig limit. He said I wouldn’t have that limit since I was already a customer. I made him promise me! I got a Verizon card for internet connection and can now load Bing just fine.
So far, so good, but we’ll see if I go over if I will get charged. I usually use more than 5GBs. I read somewhere that that 5GB limit is for tethering. Anybody else heard anything about that?
Upgraded to a Verizon branded UM175 and problem is fixed. Bought it on eBay and took it into a Verizon store to activate. I still have unlimited. No 5GB limit.
